Why I Think Humility is Important

Why I Think Humility is Important

So everything else being equal, I felt like we would be able to attract better talent and grow our business a lot faster with people that are likable, then people that weren’t. I also saw it as a policing agent internally that we could point to when someone got a little too full of their self. Taking the emotion out of it.

Here at The Anti, we see this strategy paying off. We ARE attracting some of the best talents in the industry, AND we are already bringing on clients that are household names. I couldn’t be happier.

So now I’m going to get personal for a minute. This week I got a call no parent wants. “Dad, there’s someone shooting and there is a cop down.” I’ll skip the details, but my daughter is safe. However, she (and we) are changed forever. What does this have to do with humble? First, everything. Being able to make a personal connection with anyone is a key trait of humility. I’ve just connected with most of you likely (if you have read down this far). Second, my daughter decided the day after this horrible night to return to the very place where shots rang out. Where the life of her and her friends was in danger. Where her car sat pierced with bullet holes. At that moment I realized that my humility had officially been passed on. Now that beats any NPS score, record-breaking quarter, or amazing client meal.
