I had worked in the HR Service industry for many years until my husband and I decided that it would be better for me to stay home while we started and grew our young family. He traveled a lot, I had volunteer commitments and a lot of responsibilities at home… I’d just go back to work when I was ready. Little did we know how hard it would be to get back into the rapidly changing technology landscape.
And then it happened: Wayne Chattaway, the CEO of a quickly growing start-up called The Anti, and someone I used to work closely with during my earlier career days, messaged me. “What do you know about ServiceNow?” he asked. “Nothing,” I replied. “Would you like to learn?” he asked. “Definitely!” I replied. And so it began, almost 2 years ago.
The idea of working at The Anti felt good from the beginning. Having worked with Wayne previously, I knew that along with being business-minded he is also very people-focused, and isn’t afraid of trying something new. I knew I wanted to work for an open-minded, innovative company. I wanted to work for a company that would understand that just because I couldn’t commit to typical workweek hours, didn’t mean I couldn’t bring any value to the table or wasn’t worth taking a chance on.
The actuality of joining The Anti has left me with a feeling that is so much better than how I ever imagined it. It truly is an innovative company, loaded with people who are intelligent, and eager to share their knowledge; the collaboration here is amazing. And to top it off, I’m often asked if there are any other areas I’d like to explore or ways I would enjoy contributing, things I might be interested in doing; I feel the opportunities to bring value to the organization are welcome and endless.
My workweeks may not be conventional, as I am still maintaining many of my “stay-at-home” commitments, but The Anti provides a flexible environment where I am still able to contribute and learn every day. If Wayne asked me today, “How much do you know about ServiceNow?”, I’d be able to say, “A lot!.”
